Hello and thank you for reading my blog. My name is Tom Kelner and I live in Northwest Montana. I have been an avid student of the horse for over 25 years. This blog is about some of my training ideas, philosophical underpinnings and sometimes random thoughts about horses and their people.
I have been starting colts and training horses for the better part of my adult life. I raised and trained Lippitt Morgans, falling in love with not only their great minds and heart but their willingness and ability to get the job done. Many of my breeding stock were trained for trail, pack horses, cattle work , performance, and all around every day using horses . I have had the opportunity to work with the best clinicians, professional horsemen and women over the years, giving the most credit for my knowledge base to Harry Whitney . I have also worked with a variety of horses, everything from wild untrained mustangs to Thoroughbreds and Warmbloods. I have done horsemanship clinics and successfully competed Internationally in Horseback Archery. My philosophy with training horses extends past type of tack , breed of horse or riding discipline. I believe a good horse is made through working with their mind and building a solid foundation through trust and ground work.
I provide training, clinics and education.
